Starting off in accountancy can be daunting, there are so many options for getting qualified as an accountant and for some, it can feel quite overwhelming, especially at the beginning of your career.

AAT – Association of Accounting Technicians

An internationally recognised qualification, an ideal path for school leavers or anyone considering a career as an accountant and who wants to get started as a bookkeeper.

Alongside the ACCA, this a popular choice for those looking to obtain a prestigious certification in accountancy.

CA ICAS (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland)

The ICAS Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification is the Scottish version of the ACA accountancy qualification.

ATT – Association of Taxation Technicians

The ATT qualification provides excellent foundation knowledge of Tax in the UK. It is also required if your next step is to become a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA).

CTA – Qualification from the Chartered Institute of Taxation

The CTA qualification is the most renowned in Tax.

“The CTA is the most prestigious chartered qualification in professional tax expertise – a mark of technical excellence and professional integrity.

Studying towards the CTA qualification, you’ll develop an overall understanding of tax whilst being able to specialise in a particular tax area. Upon qualifying, you can apply to become a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and become a Chartered Tax Adviser. Access to the qualification is open to anyone and there is no requirement to have a prior qualification.”
